This Music Video is going to be our ending song and the way it was edited together will be a good model for our documentary.

Analysis

The Man on the Line visualized the past life of a notorious tight rope walker. In this documentary, the producer used specific techniques of film making to highlight the intense life this tight rope walker and his crew members lived. During this movie, he utilized the effectiveness of archived videos and pictures, as well as, newspapers, that showed the relevance to the past and the present. For example, this documentary gave glory to the so called, "old school," tight rope walkers of the age, and gave new found knowledge to the viewers about the tight rope walkers of today. After viewing this documentary, curiousness rose about the subject of tight rope walkers, and i ended up wanting to acquire new information about the topic. Only the good documentaries will cause the viewer to strive for more knowledge about an unknown topic. In contrast to the Dark Days documentary, which incorporated more interview like videos edited in an order to constantly re grab the viewers attention, the Man on a Wire, backed up all the empty wholes of past speculations about the walkers, and only added security to the fact of it being accurate and knowledgeable information. Though in my opinion, the man on a wire was a better documentary, the Dark Days will help a lot more with creating our documentaries. My reasoning is simple and precise. Most of us have to collect a lot of video from interviews and things happening in everyday life. That being said, the Dark Days has the tools to give excellent of tips for our documentaries that the man on a wire lacks.

After reading the different article posts on the linked page, i came to the conclusion that society is starting to decline on the moral stand point. when things were harder to obtain they were cherished, but now that things come a bit easier compared to the cost of living, they are taken for granted. If instead of a cell phone or a computer with internet access, you just had an address book, stamps, paper, and pens the communication between people would be sincere and actually have a heart felt meaning behind them. You can write 5 pages in a letter full of emotion and stories about what you have been going through, and receive a letter the same length or longer with the same emotion behind the words. In modern times, sending people a text is never over 200 characters unless your arguing or trying to explain yourself to someone. With internet being implemented into everyday life, words have turned to short hand, and Simple words like, One, Two, Three have been converted to 1, 2. 3, for the sake of time. Things in my opinion should go back to writing heart felt, emotion filled letters to your loved ones and friends instead of a text that takes 5 minutes.

I agree with Jay Z on his opinion of having to make his own rules. With hip hop becoming extremely popular and a center piece for a lot of peoples everyday lives, artists and companies involved with the hip hop industry have to stay up to date on everything so they don't fall behind. In order for them to stay up to date, they constantly create new standards for things by improving their latest and greatest ideas past their competitors. Through the power of the internet, rules can be broken even easier then before, for example every year information is leaked about the newest call of duty, and the only way to counter these leaks are to change the elements in the game to contradict what the leak says. I feel this is the same thing with the music industry. Mix Tapes for artists are like leaks, they are usually free and found everywhere. When an artist comes out with an album they usually go a totally different way then the mix tape just to keep their audiences intrigued and stay faithful.

The internet has changed the worlds main way of communication for both the better and worse. The internet has enhanced the speed in which messages can be relayed back and forth between individuals, and it has also given a birth to the new age of electronics. The internet is one of the main ways companies advertise their products and new ideas. Because of the internet's capability of reaching a wide range of people, ideas and information is shared world wide from the click of a button. The bad thing about the internet is that it takes away from the traditional types of communication. Sending letters in the mail is close to being obsolete. Though an E-mail is way more convenient for people, it lacks the sincerity of a hand written letter. Through the internet, the military has become an even bigger force to be reckoned with. With that being said, the military also has to take even more precautions to keep their information safe from computer hackers. The internet has also created a new way to attack enemies. If China ever felt threatened by the United States they can launch an attack on all of our technology, setting everything back decades. The internet has many advantages to our success of communication, but it has an equal amount of room to be our nations down fall. 

Reflection

I felt like i did an extremely good job of keeping constant eye contact with the audience as well as projecting my voice outward instead of down or up. This made my part of the presentation very clear and in result contributed to the success of my groups presentation. I felt like something i could have done better, would  be to speak with less breaks in between sentences and slow down my pace so I am not stumbling trying to fill in blank spaces with words like, um or like. my group did a great job of distributing the work load equally and distributing the answers during the Q and A session equally. Our presentation was precise and straight to the point, leaving no room for questioning exactly what our documentary was over. The grade i would give my group would be an A, because i feel like we did an outstanding job, and went above the the criteria asked for. Millie's group did a fantastic job of developing a brochure to interact with people they wanted to interview, that was very creative and it had to have gotten them some brownie points. Shawnice's group started their presentation off differently then most groups did and for that, i feel like everyone's attention was grabbed from the start, their hook was a real snag. Jamar's groups use of materials such as videos =, buttons, and pamphlets really added a secure and reliable background to their presentation, showing that they are already in contact with the people involved in their documentary. Hunter's group showed a very emotional side to their presentation using a cal to action type of route. this made the audience, including myself, to really sit back and think about the maintenance men. Shawn's group had exceptional knowledge of their topic and used that to quickly and accurately answer questions.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR TOPIC?

UK's police force is completely separate from Lexington's patrol team. For instance, when the police is called while on campus or using any on campus land line, it is forwarded straight to the on campus officers instead of Lexington's. On campus there are multiple paths that have been lined out for students and faculty to walk on that are considered safety paths. These paths are monitored by the police, and there are cameras and phones along these paths that you can use when you are feeling awkward on these walks. Through some surface level research i was able to find out that there are multiple anonymous hotlines people call to tip off the police of suspicious behavior on campus.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY TOPIC?

The police force on campus has so many jobs that aren't seen and i really want to know what all they do. There are so many activities on campus that have to be patrolled there cant be enough officers on campus to be everywhere all the time so how do they do it? Do they have patrols? or is there a room somewhere on campus an officer is sitting viewing all the cameras, and waiting for someone to slip up, so they can head out.

WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION?

To find out more about the security on campus i can go to the green dot organization and talk to them about what all they are involved in and how big of a role they have. i can also go around campus asking people how often they see the police force and how big of a force are they. there is also a site i can go to view all the different activities that are required to be patrolled.

Even though you can judge someone off the way they dress, you shouldn't, point blank! going along with what this article was saying, a lot more then what you wear goes into stereotyping someone. in my opinion the author didn't want to come straight out and say that race and where your live play a role but it does. reading the passage carefully you can tell the subliminal reasoning to why Martin was shot in Florida. The idea of not knowing exactly what someone looks like can be quiet scary. the hood has gotten its terrifying aspects from the criminal history of it. When your not wanting someone to see your face you simply mask yourself with the hood, instantly putting fear into the watching persons eyes.

 For instance this picture is of rapper 50 cent, in this picture he seems violent and would make someone seem uneasy. now the picture below is the exact same rapper but gives off a totally different vibe. so the clothes do make the man!

I thought the article, "Brittney Griner and the Queering of Professional Sports," was a great article. it shows how the media only cares about things they never saw coming. For example, Brittney was blatant about her sexuality when she showed up on the runway in matching dress pants and a vest, to pick up her girlfriend.

  Another example would be the WNBA Draft. She came to the draft wearing a tuxedo and orange fingernails showing she is a woman but she isn't

straight. the media didn't make any commotion because they know she is gay.
